National Train Day

SLO Car Free celebrates the 2010 National Train Day at Union Station in Los Angeles!

National Train Day
Thousands showed up at the Union Station to join in on the celebration.  Attendees were able to see old model trains, various educational booths and of course, SLO Car Free! SLO Car Free, the SLO County Air Pollution Control District and the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce hosted a booth dedicated to showing people all of the pleasures San Luis Obispo has to offer.

SLO Car Free Launch Party!

On November 19, 2009, at the San Luis Obispo Regional Airport Hangar, SLO Car Free had a celebratory event allowing the public to get a behind-the-scenes look at an aircraft hangar that displayed the San Luis Obispo Car Free program, its members and the services they provide. Chairman of the APCD Board, Supervisor Katcho Achadjian, led the ribbon cutting ceremony. The launch party also featured live music provided by the band Impromptu, delicious cake and fun drawing prizes for those that were in attendance! Photography by Weston Neuschafer Photography. San Luis Obispo County Farmers’ Markets

The Central Coast is a highly agricultural region. One of the best ways to help it retain its rural character is to keep local farmers in production. To remain economically viable, local growers need to have local markets for their food and fibers. By being able to identify which products are grown in the local area, consumers are given more freedom to support the local agricultural economy. To check out San Luis Obispo County’s bounty, see the Central Coast Ag Network’s webpage to see all market listing and local restaurants and grocery stores that showcase local produce!
